"In mid October we contracted with Don Manfred of Design Works Inc. for a major renovation of our kitchen and family room, as well as numerous miscellaneous projects throughout the house.
We were impressed from the start with Design Works' unique approach to their business: Don assumed the dual roles of contractor and designer, resulting in a smoother and more efficient operation of the remodel.
Communication though out the project was exceptional. We were provided with a schedule for the sub contractors and kept informed of necessary revisions as they occurred. Don was frequently on-site, monitoring the progress of the project, trouble- shooting, consulting with subs and us. He made himself available to us at all times listening to concerns, answering questions, and was unfailingly patient and professional. With a very challenging timeline of completion by Christmas, he kept the project moving and met the goal.

Let's begin at the end...we are thrilled with our new kitchen! Don is extremely knowledgeable and well connected, from the talented folks on his team, to his outside "subs", to his relationships with local businesses. We were looking for a very modern, "euro" look for our kitchen cabinets, and Don suggested Freeze Manufacturing Inc. as someone he works with often. Dovetailing Don's design skills with FMI's craftsmanship gave us cabinets that exceeded our expectations at a price we could afford.
Don is detailed and well organized. A timeline was created and adhered to. The only setbacks in scheduling were because we as homeowners made changes midstream. Thankfully, Don and his crew were flexible enough to work with us on these changes, largely without missing a beat.
As we progressed through the project, we found it very helpful to periodically meet at the Design Works store, largely because of the vast array of materials Don has on hand there. It's very helpful to discuss a tile style, a countertop material or a flooring option with examples of the materials spread out before you to see in person.
Lastly, Design Works stands behind their work. We had a callback on the backsplash, and Don immediately stepped up to the plate with the offer to re-do it. Don wanted us to be satisfied with the entire project, and he saw it through until we were...and are very happy and satisfied. As I said in the beginning, we are thrilled with our new kitchen, and we will not hesitate to contact Don and Design Works for any future home remodeling projects.

Our 1979 kitchen was in need of a serious remodel so we contacted Design Works to help us with our project. Monica Renfro spearheaded our project and got us underway. We started out with a budget and she outlined what everything would cost. We weren't very good at keeping to our budget but she kept us well informed when we picked something that went over what she had allotted. For example we spent more money on higher end appliances and on our lighting. They completely gutted our kitchen and took out a wall. Don Manfred came out to our house with a construction expert who analyzed the project. He determined that a beam had to be inserted as we had no bearing wall. They took the info to an architect who determined the size of the beam. Even Don "got down and dirty" and helped install the beam which wasn't an easy task.
Monica was fantastic in scheduling the project and her goal was to finish the project in a timely manner. She created a calendar so we knew who and what was being done at our house every day. If there were any changes she was good at letting us know. She helped us in our decision making of cabinet design, countertops, tile, flooring material, paint color etc. She gave us "homework" so at each stage of the project we had made our decisions so that the project would go forward. There were a lot of design decisions to be made and sometimes it was overwhelming but she helped us in making up our minds. She was very easy to work with and so was Don. After the project was completed we felt like we had lost our new best friends as we were no longer communicating every week!
Our friends and relatives have complimented us on our new kitchen and we are enjoying it every day. We highly recommend Design Works for your new project!

When we decided to remodel our kitchen, a friend of ours suggested that we call Design Works, and specifically Monica Renfro. I am so glad that we did because Monica made the whole process fun and was extremely helpful in many of the decisions that we had to make. Monica helped us plan our kitchen, took us to look at and select beautiful (and functional) cabinets, helped us select a beautiful sink and faucet and had marvelous suggestions for flooring, tile, lighting, paint, countertops and every other aspect of the project. Once the plan was in place, Monica came up with a perfect time-line and had the sub-contractors at our home on the exact dates and times that she established for the work. Design Works has wonderful sub-contractors from electricians to plumbers to installers who are extremely conscientious about their projects and very pleasant to work with.
Also, Monica came by the house every day to make sure that the work was progressing. We totally appreciated that aspect of her service as well. In the end, we were extremely pleased with the result and we just LOVE our new kitchen! I would highly recommend Design Works, and Monica Renfro, for remodeling needs. We hope to use them in the future as we remodel our bathrooms.

We worked with Design Works, specifically Monica Renfro, when we remodeled a house. Having no design sense, we relied entirely on Monica's ideas. She even found us a floor covering that looks like reclaimed wood at a reasonable price. We never thought we would be able to find something like that but Monica found it after doing a lot of research. Everything turned out wonderfully and we have gotten compliments from everyone that comes to the house. We would not hesitate to use Design Works and Monica again.
